[Cameroon Tribune] The document was adopted in a workshop organised by the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies yesterday.
Public administrators now have a harmonised document that will ease the installation, connexion and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in government institutions. The document christened, "Master Plan for the use of ICT in Public Administration" was adopted yesterday in a workshop organised by the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC). The workshop, which held at the ANTIC head office in Yaoundé, grouped ICT experts in government ministries as well as related institutions.
Speaking during the event, the deputy director general of ANTIC, Abenkov Paulette said the document will greatly modernise and ease public administration. This, she added, as information will be easily preserved and accessed easily. She said the world is evolving with evolutions in the ICT and Cameroon could not afford to be indifferent. She said with the new document, there will be harmony in the installation of ICT and money that was hitherto wasted through haphazard installation, connexion and use of ICT will be used in other ways to develop the economy. The document, Abenkov Paulette said, is prepared to anticipate and adapt to evolutions in the ICT sector.
Until the adoption of the document yesterday, ANTIC had earlier held capacity-building workshops with ICT experts in public administration to better school them on the domain so that they could in turn do same in their respective spheres of influence. One of such workshops took place on January 20, 2009 during which a draft of the master plan was presented to the officials for appraisal.
