China - 80 million broadband lines

MIIT: China Nears 80M Broadband Subscribers

China had 79.35 million broadband subscribers by the end of September, 12.93 million more than in the first nine months of 2007, reports quoting Zhu Hongren, Operation and Monitoring Bureau director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Domestic telephone subscribers, including fixed-line and mobile users, reached 977 million, increasing 64.25 million from the year-ago period, said Zhu.

China's software industry revenue increased 32.8% year-on-year in the first months of 2008, according to the director.
