KT Opens WiBro Service in Uzbekistan
KT opened its second overseas WiBro service in Uzbekistan. The telecom firm on Sunday held the launch ceremony for EVO, the local brand of WiBro service, in Tashkent. Korea Communications Commission chairman Choi See-joong and Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Communication and Information Agency Abdulla Aripov were present.
WiBro was developed in Korea and enables wireless Internet service while on the move at a speed of up to 120 km/h. Uzbekistan is the second country other than Korea where KT began WiBro service after Primorsky Kray, Russia. Because Uzbekistan has no infrastructure for wired fast Internet service, wireless services such as WiBro are being touted as the best alternative.
