CMT says Telefonica will have to share fibre optic broadband network
Spain's telecommunications watchdog CMT said Telefonica SA. will have open its fibre optic broadband network to competitors in order to boost growth in the sector's infrastructure and new generation networks.
In a statement on the CMT's web page, the authority said that Telefonica should open its virtual loop to competitors, and 'should attend to the reasonable access requests by alternative operators and offer a price that is similar to costs.'
The CMT said the approved measures, effective Thursday, will remain in effect until other definitive measures are defined, perhaps toward the end of the year.
