Panama - mobile number portability

Number portability expected by 2010

BNamericas is reporting that Panamanian public services regulator Autoridad Nacional de los Servicios Publicos (ASEP) expects number portability to be offered by 2010. An auction to select a company to manage the database is due, but no date has yet been set. ASEP is understood to have run a public consultation regarding mobile number portability in May 2008, and has estimated costs for implementation at USD11 million. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, requirements for both fixed and mobile number portability have been under review since 2007.
