Bosnia - operator profits

Bosnian duo report net profit, revenue increases for 2008

Bosnia’s BH Telecom has reported that in 2008 it recorded revenues of BAM627.5 million (USD405.9 million), a 2% rise against the same period a year earlier. The company also reported net profits of BAM143 million, up 4% from fiscal 2007. BH Telecom, which is the largest of Bosnia’s three main telcos, revealed that at the end of 2008 it had 1.45 million wireless subscribers and 550,000 fixed line voice customers. Additionally, the telco said that subscribers to its ADSL services surged by 130% to 50,480, with a further 30,000 customers taking dial-up internet services.
BH-rival Telekom Srpske has also released financial results for the twelve months to 31 December 2008, reporting a 66% rise in profits for the period to BAM119.2 million, whilst revenue rose 25% year-on-year to BAM475 million. The third main operator, HT Mostar, has yet to announce its figures for 2008.
