IPTV - Central and Eastern Europe

CEE boost for Telekom IPTV

Deutsche Telekom’s Central European subsidiaries in Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Macedonia and Montenegro added a combined total of 220,000 IPTV customers by the end of 2008.

In Hungary, Magyar Telekom grew its IPTV subscriber base by 208.9% year on year to reach 28,496 as of December 31, 2008. Its cable television business also grew slightly from 418,517 at the end of 2007 to 422,936 at the close of 2008. Cable broadband subscribers moved upward from 89,853 to 107,769.

In Montenegro the fledgling IPTV business grew from 2,397 to reach 17,531 at the end of the year.

Slovak Telekom is the market leader for IPTV services in Slovakia and reached 135,573 subscribers in 2008 from 43,734 in 2007. Croatia, where Telekom uses the MaxTV brand, passed 100,000 subscribers in October

Deutsche Telekom closed 2008 with 480,000 subscribers to its T-Entertain IPTV service in Germany, reaching the half million mark in early January 2009.
