USA - FCC Chair Ups the Bar for Broadband

[wsj] Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski on Tuesday said the federal government wants most U.S. households to by 2020 have access to Internet service that is 10 times faster than what is commonly available now.

Mr. Genachowski, in a speech before the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, said the goal of 100 megabits per second Internet service will be included in the FCC's upcoming national broadband plan.
