UK - broadband in rural Northern Ireland

Rural Northern Ireland areas to get £1.9 million broadband boost

At the end of last week, NI Economy Minister Arlene Foster announced that rural areas across Northern Ireland were set to benefit from a £1.9 million broadband fund.

Businesses piloting new technologies are being encouraged to make use of the funding, offering more opportunities for the future commercial roll-out of high speed broadband services.

When announcing plans for the fund the Minister commented: “The Broadband Fund represents an opportunity to further develop Northern Ireland’s already world-class telecommunications infrastructure, to support the growth of local businesses and efforts to attract foreign direct investment to the region.”

The Minister announced that she would be encouraging business of all sizes to seek assistance from the Broadband Fund.
