Canada - DAVE Wireless Unveils New Brand Name: ‘Mobilicity’

[teleclick] Forthcoming Canadian cell phone operator, DAVE Wireless, has unveiled a new logo and brand name and says it is preparing to begin offering wireless voice and data services this spring.

The company will operate under the brand name, “Mobilicity,” and plans to launch its first wireless network in the city of Toronto. Mobilicity services will be extended to customers in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa later in the year.

“There’s three words [in the brand name]: mobile, simplicity and city-based services,” said DAVE Wireless chairman, John Bitove, in an interview. “It’s an everyday value offer for everyday Canadians.”

Mobilicity will offer “unlimited” voice and data plans at lower prices than those of leading competitors such as Rogers, Bell, and Telus. Bitove noted that the company is “fully funded” to build advanced 3G network in each of its five initial markets by the end of this year.
