Australia - The shape of broadband services will depend on who wins over the independent MPs, but wireless networks are already getting much faster

[sky] The National Broadband Network largely depends on who will govern Australia as a decision looms in the not too distant future.

Yet what exactly will happen is still up in the air as the Coalition is promising a premier Wireless network.

In the meantime, Telstra claims to have the fastest wireless network.

Yet there are some networks who claim to be even faster, one being the LTE network in Shanghai which runs up to 50 megabits per second.

Luke Coleman who worked on the network is currently trialling it with Telstra in Australia and says they can expect to have those kind of speeds very soon.

'You can well expect to get speeds of up to 100 megabits per second and even over that, but it's still a few years off for a commercial basis,' Coleman said.
