Cambodia - Govt has warned operators in Thailand not to provide service across the border

[cellular news] Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has issued a warning to Thailand based mobile networks to cease alleged infringements in the Cambodian countryside.

Several unnamed Thai mobile service providers are alleged to have constructed towers inside the Cambodian border without authorisation, said Ministry Secretary of State Sarak Khan.

The two countries are disputing the exact location of the border, so the Thai networks may consider their networks to be within Thailand, but the Cambodians would disagree.

The ministry is said to have been aware of the problem for some time, but delayed taking action until the Cambodian supplied telecoms networks were improved in the areas affected.
