Thailand - Central Admin Court has heard an application for interim relief to halt the 3G auction being conducted by NTC

[bangkok post] The Central Administrative Court on Wednesday finished examining state-run CAT Telecom's application for a temporary injunction halting the 3G auction by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) next Monday, CAT Telecom chief executive officer Jirayut Rungsrithong said.

The court was expected to notify the NTC and CAT whether it will accept the motion or grant legal protection for CAT within the next two days.

NTC secretary-general Suranan Wongvithayakamjorn said the court did not issue any order and had not summoned either side today.

In a separate matter, the Central Administrative Court dropped the TOT's 2007 motion against the NTC's announcement about connections and utilisation of the telecommunications network.

The court ruled that the NTC announcement was legitimate and did not violate the Telecommunications Business Act.

The court also dismissed a case filed by TOT against the NTC's order to hold talks with Total Access Communication (DTAC) to forge a bilateral interconnection-charge deal.

The court ruled the order was lawful.
