Persian Gulf - Roaming charges are expected to fall in GCC countries following government action

[zawya] Roaming charges for Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) nationals travelling within the GCC are expected to be reduced following the Eid Al-Fitr Holidays, announced an official source with the Ministry of CommunicationMinistry of Communication. The move will allow GCC citizens to enjoy reduced prices on local and international calls while visiting any of the six countries of the GCC, reported Al-Qabas.

The decision to reduce roaming costs was the result of a communication project initiated by the communication ministers of participating countries. GCC countries are currently working on extending cables between the countries so that they can boost the quality of joint services.

Kuwait's Ministry of Communication is working with the three telecommunication services providers in the country in order to use a per second sale rate instead of the current per minute one. Official sources noted that GCC nationals who use roaming services while visiting other Gulf Countries will receive text messages that contain the cost of service in each country.
