Ireland - advertising code for broadband

New broadband advert code in force
see also ASAI advice note on broadband

A new advertising code requiring broadband providers to reveal connection speeds during busy times came into force today.

The code will also stop broadband providers from exaggerating availability, and ensure that headline speeds, unless guaranteed, are marked as "up to" in advertising campaigns.

The code was drawn by the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland in consultation with ComReg and the National Consumer Agency after a number of complaints were lodged by consumers over advertising for broadband services.
