Somalia - Local administration denies cutting telecoms in Galgudud region

[mareeg] The Islamic administration of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a clerics have denied cutting the telecommunications of parts of Galgudud region in central Somalia, official said on Monday.

Sheik Omar Sheik Abdukadir, The chairman of the legislators of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a clerics told reporters that they did not halt or cut any services of the telecommunication of Dusomareb town which was absent for the third day and also the other districts around the town of Galgudud region.

“those who used to cut the important services of the people as the telecommunications and radio stations were behind with out the telecommunications of parts of the region, but we did not cut any telecommunications at all and there is no reason to cut it,” said one of the officials of Ahlu Sunna in central Somalia.

There had been clashes between the Islamist clerics of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a and Al-shabab forces in villages around Dusomareb town of Galgudud region and the statement comes as people in the region were saying that cutting the telecommunications was related the tense between the two rivals in the region.
