Federal Government won't say when broadband will reach all of the bush
The Federal Government is refusing to say when all of regional Australia will get affordable broadband.
It says there's a five-year plan to deliver fibre internet to most of Australia.
And in the meantime, the Australian Broadband Guarantee program will continue subsidising internet rollouts in some rural areas.
But Communications Minister Stephen Conroy says he won't commit to a full plan for remote Australia until the regional telecoms review reports in August.
"We are calling for proposals next week on improving the delivery of high speed broadband to the two per cent not covered by the national broadband network," he says.
"After 11 and a half years, after 18 failed broadband plans from the previous Howard Government, we are delivering as fast as it is possible to build."
