[JLM Pacific Epoch] The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) set up a specialized approvals procedure for online video content, and may allow Internet broadcasts of content deemed not suitable for cinema or TV, reports The Beijing News quoting a SARFT director. Online video sites will still need to purchase the copyright from the distributor before applying to SARFT for an online broadcasting license.
Last month, SARFT released a new regulation requiring all broadcasters of online audio-visual content to apply for offline broadcasting licenses.
