[communicationsdirectnews] Vodafone's and T-Mobile's German businesses are planning to impose special tariffs for using mobile VoIP services, such as Skype, reports local media.
Significance: The reports follow an earlier article in Die Welt newspaper, which stated that the two operators had been planning not to sell Nokia's handsets that come with Skype included—an extra tariff for VoIP would be a less drastic attempt to curb Skype usage. Of the two companies, T-Mobile has been especially unwilling to accept Skype, having indicated that it may block it altogether from its subscribers using Apple's iPhone.
