Oman - Nawras has launched micro-SIM cards to support use of Apple iPads

[zawya] Continuing the trend for bringing firsts to Oman, Nawras is delighted to announce that the latest micro SIMs, designed to slot into the new Apple iPad, are now available from all 23 Nawras stores. Once again, Nawras is at the cutting edge of technology and planning ahead to meet the future needs of its more than 1.9 million valued customers. As new handsets and other new communication tools like the iPad are launched featuring the smaller SIM-card slot, Nawras is ready to help customers take advantage of these trends and innovations.

Micro SIM-cards are also sometimes referred to as 3FF (3rd form factor) SIMs. As the name suggests, they are simply smaller in size than the SIM card currently in use, with an otherwise identical appearance. In order to benefit from the pleasingly different micro SIM, customers simply purchase a regular Nawras welcome pack or use their existing Nawras SIM-card and Nawras will replace it with the micro SIM for just RO2.

Ahmed Tabook, Head of VAS marketing, roaming and international, said, "As customers have come to expect, Nawras is showing innovation by providing the very latest technology. We are pleased to have the new micro SIM-cards available in all our stores from today - even before the new iPads arrive in the Sultanate. Once again we are ensuring that Nawras customers get more choice."

Over the last five years, Nawras, a Qtel company, has transformed the mobile telecom landscape in Oman and is now on the verge of doing the same for fixed services. The company is transforming into a full service provider offering customers a one-stop shop to meet all their telecom needs whether related to mobile, fixed or internet services.
